Scooter’s Coffee

4141 Hwy 280, Alexander City – (256) 392-3651

Hours: Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Scooter’s Coffee is famous for many things—in particular, their superior coffee and convenient “scoot in and scoot out” service. Their drive-thru franchise in Alex City opened in February 2021. If you have yet to try their coffee or freshly baked pastries, make sure to plan your stop. Scooter’s is located on Highway 280 in Alex City, about a quarter mile east from Chik-Fil-A. If you are on the north side of Lake Martin, like Sturdivant, River Oaks, or Miner’s Cove, you are close.

Nirvana Latte

5054 Hwy 49 S, Dadeville – (256) 307-1253

Hours: Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.; Saturday from 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Nirvana Latte owes its success to scrumptious pastries and excellent coffee. They are open daily and serve breakfast, so you can begin the day with a great meal and coffee. You can also order online and then pick up your order. If I am showing lake homes on the east side of Lake Martin, and my day starts near the County Road 34 area, I always try to schedule some time to stop and get my coffee at Nirvana Latte. As a bonus, it is in the same shopping center as the Dadeville location of Lake Martin Pizza and also the Lake Martin Creamery.

BRU 63 Coffee Shop

17 Russell Farms Rd, Alexander City – (256) 715-7077

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Sunday from 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Catherine’s Market in Alexander City offers more than just specialty products. They also have a full-service coffee shop, BRU 63. It serves traditional favorites and exclusive items. Enjoy a range of beverages, from hot espresso and iced coffee to smoothies and plant-based energy drinks. They also have an excellent bakery menu. Try options like their breakfast pot pie or blueberry muffins. Bru63 is located in the back of Catherine’s. If you’re near Russell Crossroads – in neighborhoods like The Ridge, Willow Point, The Heritage, Windermere, and Trillium, then Bru63 might be a good spot for you to grab some Joe.

THE GRAND BAKERY

Hours: Monday 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Tuesday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 am.; Sunday – closed.

The newest of these four is the Grand Bakery in downtown Dadeville. It is located directly across from the front steps of the Tallapoosa County Courthouse. Its coffee is good, but its baked goods are even better. My go to order is a large cup of coffee and one of their homemade oatmeal cream pie sandwiches.  The first time I stopped by there I also bought one of their cinnamon rolls, intending to let my wife try a bit when I got home. It didn’t make it 10 minutes in the car with me. Don’t tell her.

Lake Martin is a scenic destination in Alabama. And you don’t have to travel far from the lake for a good cup of coffee. These shops offer fresh coffee and tasty treats to go on the side.
