Late February at Lake Martin brings cooler mornings, longer daylight, and the perfect setting for an outdoor tradition that continues to grow each year. On February 28, 2026, the Russell Forest Run returns, welcoming participants to join them for a good cause.

Racing for a Cause

Russell Forest Run is an annual event that benefits the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation. Since the start of this run 15 years ago, Russell has been able to donate close to $152,000 to the foundation.

The Russell Forest Run also offers a unique experience, winding participants through the natural beauty of Russell Forest. This event gives you a chance to help their cause while also enjoying the amazing nature views around Lake Martin.

For Runners, Walkers, and Supporters

This event is designed for more than just seasoned runners. Whether you’re chasing a personal record, enjoying a steady jog, or walking with friends, the Russell Forest Run welcomes all paces and ages. Spectators line the course and gathering areas to encourage the participants.
