As a full time real estate agent here on Lake Martin, I totally get it when my buyers like to do their own “research” by riding around in their boat and checking out waterfront homes and lots for sale.

I mean, hey, you can learn and have fun at the same time!

One service I offer for my buyers is creating them a list of homes to see from the water on their own self guided tour. For example, I recently had a family call me that needed some help. We had been discussing waterfront homes for sale in the Blue Creek area of Lake Martin that were priced under $400,000. They were planning a day on their boat that would start around Martin Dam, then work their way east.

Since we had been talking about the wants and needs of their dream lake home, I knew the types of homes that they might like to see on their tour. I selected three or four for them.

Also, I thought it might be a great time for them to learn not only “for sale” prices, but actual sold prices of homes here at Lake Martin. Seeing them online is one thing, but seeing them from the water can be incredibly helpful. So I added a few sold homes to their tour so that, when the time is right for them to make an offer, they will be up to speed on our market. Lake Martin is a big lake, but it is a small, extremely niche market here in east Alabama.
