Where is The Bridge to Nowhere on Lake Martin and why is it there? Good questions!
The Bridge to Nowhere is now a bona fide Lake Martin landmark. But (like a lot of places on the lake) you won’t find it on Zillow or even Google Maps.
Why? Because the bridge has no official name. The “Bridge to Nowhere” is just a tongue in cheek moniker. If you look at a map, the bridge is located inside The Ridge neighborhood. It is south of the Ridge Marina. This bridge was built several years ago by developer Russell Lands to connect the mainland of The Ridge development to Chimney Rock Island. But the area (at least at this writing) has never been developed – thus, it really goes nowhere.
If you ride under the bridge in your boat, you will see a highly developed residential neighborhood on one side, and a forested island on the other.
Enjoy watching my video about the bridge and to hear one of my biggest pet peeves. And no – it isn’t because I can’t fish from the bridge like you can from the old bridge on Pensacola Bay but that’s not a bad idea.
I hope you have enjoyed learning more about this landmark at Lake Martin.
