The Kowaliga General Store is a great locally owned spot in the Kowaliga area of Lake Martin Alabama. You will find not only gifts at the store but also things such as lunch food and coffee.
The Kowaliga General Store building has a ton of history. As long as I can remember, it has been a store. When I was a little kid, we would get our candy fix before we went to my parents’ cabin located near the store. If this building could talk, then it would have a lot of history behind it.
One of the things we as kids loved to get from the store was the Lik-M-Aid candy that was just pure sugar. It was awesome, and the guy Spike that ran the store had a stuffed rattlesnake that we thought was really cool and scary. He also had this German Shepherd that you had to step over to get into the store.
The German Shepherd and stuffed rattlesnake are gone, but they have other things now. They have gifts, food such as sandwiches, coffee, and really good pies. If someone that’s not familiar with the area asks me where they can get a good local pie, I always tell them to go to the Kowaliga General Store.
