StillWaters by Golf Cart

Can you spend an entire weekend at Lake Martin without getting in your car? I decided to find out by staying in StillWaters all weekend to see how many places I could get to by golf cart without having to drive my car.

Personally, I think StillWaters is the most golf cart friendly neighborhood around Lake Martin. Spending the weekend there gave me a chance to put that opinion to the test. The Cart Source in Dadeville loaned me a golf cart, and they were super nice about it.

Getting Around StillWaters by Golf Cart

The golf cart was an E Z GO ELiTE, and it was really nice. It had an LED screen, a radio, seating for four people, as well as plenty of room in the back for my cooler and everything else. It was pretty much perfect for what I was trying to do.

The Cart Source is a local company in Dadeville on Highway 280. You’ve probably seen them if you’ve driven up and down 280. They’re huge, and they’ve got all the best dealerships there.

My Home Base at Villas on the Harbor

Another big part of making this work was using 507 Villas on the Harbor as my home base. It’s a listing of mine with three bedrooms, a boat slip, a deeded PWC slip, four parking spots, as well as a garage for the golf cart.

This condo is now under contract, but I have another awesome condo listing in StillWaters. It’s Harbor Pointe Condo E103. This is another great spot that gives you access to all StillWaters has to offer plus a private sandy beach and lakeside pool. Harbor Pointe Marina Inside StillWaters

Once I got to the Villas on the Harbor, I was 100 percent in golf cart mode. The car keys could stay put. From there, I started seeing just how much I could do around StillWaters without getting back in the car.

One of the best things about StillWaters is that they’ve got their own marina inside the gates. Harbor Pointe Marina gives you a place to store your boat, get gas, and visit the ship store. That’s a huge benefit if you’re trying to spend your weekend inside StillWaters.

The Landing at Harbor Pointe is also right there. It’s one of the newest and most popular restaurants, and I noticed something I hadn’t really paid attention to before. They’ve already got about eight or nine golf cart parking spots, which makes getting there by golf cart really convenient.

Restaurants Inside StillWaters

I was able to eat at The Landing at Harbor Pointe without getting in my car. Also, Prime Steakhouse gave me another option for lunch inside StillWaters. Having restaurants that I could reach by golf cart made this whole experiment pretty easy.

Lake Martin Grocery Store by Golf Cart

One of the key elements that made the whole plan work was Lake Martin Grocery. It’s connected to StillWaters by a golf cart path, so I didn’t even have to get out on the highway. I could just ride the golf cart over there, and it’s a full grocery store.

At that point, I felt like I was kind of cheating. This really wasn’t too hard. I still hadn’t started my car and had been getting around by golf cart the whole time.

Church of the Living Waters

When Sunday rolled around, I didn’t even have to leave StillWaters for church. Church of the Living Waters is inside the gates. It’s also right on the water at StillWaters.

Golf and Amenities at StillWaters

For you golfers out there, no trip to StillWaters is complete without playing at least one round of golf. StillWaters also has a lot of other amenities besides the golf course. All of that adds to the idea that you can park your car and spend your time inside the neighborhood.

The Golf Cart Lifestyle Is Real

One thing I noticed over the course of the three days was that I wasn’t the only person doing this. I bumped into about three people who were basically doing the same thing I was doing. I saw some friends of mine who had just bought a boat, and they were tooling around StillWaters, kind of scoping it out.

A guy at the grocery store really had it dialed in. He was in and out with his stuff, some cold beer, hot dogs, and hamburgers. He had clearly done this before.

Can You Spend a Weekend in StillWaters Without Your Car?

After spending three days doing it, I can say that getting around StillWaters by golf cart was not too hard. I could get to restaurants, the grocery store, Harbor Point Marina, church, golf, and other amenities without starting my car. For someone who likes the idea of throwing down the car keys for the weekend, that’s a pretty cool part of the StillWaters lifestyle.
