What is different about building a new waterfront home at Lake Martin?

I get this question a lot. Buyers who may have built elsewhere wonder if there are things they need to know that are unique to the lake. One big thing that some buyers don’t consider is seawall construction.

Lot 29 at Kennebec is a lot I sold recently and the new owners just built their seawall. I thought I would shoot this video to show what it looks like. This particular seawall is of concrete construction. While concrete tends to be one of the more expensive options, contractors that I know advise me that it is also one of the more durable materials.

In this example, since the lot has really big views, the owners chose to go with a good stout seawall to protect their waterfront investment. I shot the video during the normal winter drawdown at Lake Martin. It is the time of year you see a lot of seawall construction.
