I get asked about where to play golf around Lake Martin frequently so I decided to compile a list of golf courses in order of most “private” to least:
Wicker Point Golf Course – it is still being developed. Wicker Point will be a private course, and will be owned by Russell Lands. It is going to be designed by Coore and Crenshaw. I am not a golfer, but even I have heard of “Gentle Ben” Crenshaw. His design company is known for making some legendary golf courses and from what I understand, this will be their only course to date in the State of Alabama. They are projecting that the course will be open for the Summer of 2023.
The new waterfront neighborhood that surrounds Wicker Point will be called The Heritage. The lot prices have not been released as I write this. Russell Lands is planning on releasing some of the lots in Summer 2022, and from what I can tell (I am not a Russell Lands agent and therefore will be not be a listing agent or associated with it in any way) they will be very high caliber lots. I think they will be priced similar to the Willows, and time adjusted for market appreciation.
Willow Point – it is the oldest and most private, most swanky established golf club at this writing. Willow Point is like a lot of private clubs in that they charge initiation fees and monthly dues, depending on your type of membership. The club is inside the gated neighborhood of Willow Point. Since it is a private club, you have to join it separately even if you live inside the gates of Willow Point. Willow Point has other features like a pool, tennis courts, gym, and private dining.

StillWaters– it is also a gated neighborhood but the golf is semi-private. A benefit of StillWaters is that it is gated, has golf as well as a marina, tennis courts and a couple of restaurants.

Lakewinds Golf Course – this is a public municipal golf course owned by the City of Alexander City. It is not inside any neighborhood.
