Indian Shores on Lake Martin Alabama

In this blog, I will tell you about a neighborhood on Lake Martin known as Indian Shores. This is a neighborhood that’s near and dear to my heart.

Indian Shores Location

Indian Shores is located on the south central side of Lake Martin. By water, it’s near Chimney Rock, Chuck’s Marina, and The Ridge. If you’re in Indian Shores, then you are also close to what we call “Malfunction Junction.” This is where Blue Creek hits the river. 

By land, Indian Shores is close to the Cherokee Alpine Trails. Also, it’s close to the east side stuff such as Niffer’s and Oskar’s. On the west side, it’s about 15 minutes from Kowaliga.

If you know where Crowne Pointe condos are on the main entrance to Blue Creek, that’s Indian Shores. It is also located behind Cooper Slough.

Homes in Indian Shores

Indian Shores has both waterfront and non-waterfront homes available. These homes are all different sizes and types, because it doesn’t really have an architectural review or anything like that.

Little known fact, Indian Shores is also the location of famous architect Bobby McAlpine’s first lake home. Once you see it, you’ll recognize it. 

Amenities at Indian Shores 

This neighborhood does have some amenities. It has McMillan Park which has a boat ramp, community docks, and a swimming area. It’s a pretty minimal property owner fee, POA, per year. 

I have a lot of friends that live in Indian Shores. It’s an older neighborhood, and so it kinda feels like old school Lake Martin. Utilities there include Walnut Hill Water Authority of the Water, all the houses are on septic, internet is spectrum right now. However, they did lay fiber optic cables in Indian Shores several months ago. 

In Conclusion

If a south central location is good for you, then Indian Shores might be a great fit. Like I said, it feels like old school Lake Martin. This is because there are nice lake homes here, but there’s really no style. A lot of them are built over different eras. 

As far as walkability, it has some steep roads. But, I have many friends that love to walk there regularly.
