Memorial Day weekend is one of the most anticipated times of the season at Lake Martin, and it wouldn’t feel complete without the return of Art on the Lake.
This is an annual event that kicks off the summer with a celebration of creativity and lake lifestyle. Whether you’re spending the long weekend at your lake home or visiting for the holiday, Art on the Lake is a must-see stop on the calendar.
Art on the Lake takes place at the Town Green at Russell Crossroads in Alexander City. It runs both Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 23–24, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
This event always showcases an array of amazing handmade pieces. If you purchase something at this event, you will be supporting all of the local artists in the area. You’ll also be getting some great merch to rep the lake.
This arts and crafts show brings together talented artists and makers from across the Southeast, all showcasing original, handcrafted work. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of fine art and functional pieces, from paintings and pottery to jewelry, woodwork, as well as unique home décor. It’s the perfect place to find something special for your lake home or a meaningful gift.
Art on the Lake has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition for many families, and for good reason. It’s an event that invites you to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with the creative spirit of the region. After exploring the art show, many attendees make a full day of it by enjoying nearby restaurants, live music, or heading back out on the water to soak up the start of summer on Lake Martin.
Make sure to check out Catherine’s Market or Fanny’s while you’re there. Both of these locations have great food that you will want to try. There also a coffee shop called Bru 63 inside Catherine’s that has some of the best coffee around Lake Martin.
If you’re planning to be at Lake Martin for Memorial Day weekend, be sure to add Art on the Lake to your list. It’s a simple, memorable way to kick off summer.
