History of The Harbor Neighborhood on Lake Martin
The Harbor is a waterfront neighborhood with homes and lots for sale on the south side of Lake Martin, close, by water, to Chimney and Acapulco Rocks. Developed in the late 1990s, it consists of one large slough with homes lining both sides. Lots in The Harbor vary from steep to more gently sloping.
The Harbor is located off of Overlook Drive, near Martin Dam. Overlook Drive is a loop road off of AL State Highway 50. If you are looking at a map, find Martin Dam, follow Highway 50 to the east, and the first road you come to is Overlook. The Harbor is very close to Auburn, and therefore close to Georgia. Its central lake location means it is close, by water, to both east and west side lake restaurants, marinas, and attractions. Because it is in a slough, it is protected from the big water churn of boat traffic. The Harbor is also very close to other neighborhoods located off of Overlook Drive like Marina Marin and The Village.
A unique feature of this neighborhood is that just outside the entrance is the trail head for the Deadening Alpine Trail, a system of trails that are part of the Cherokee Ridge Trail Association.
