I was honored to be the keynote speaker at the Lake Martin Dadeville Area Chamber meeting held recently. I was representing the Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA) explaining some of the worthwhile contributions of the LMRA to the Lake Martin area.
I briefly talked about three things in the realm of the environment, safety, and advocacy.
The LMRA leads and participates in a lot of community litter cleanups. One such is the annual Renew Our Rivers trash cleanup helping keep the lake shoreline (and roadsides) litter-free .
Another project of the LMRA is to promote safety with the placement and maintenance of buoys at Lake Martin to mark hazardous underwater areas, as well as no wake and keep out areas.
They also advocate to protect Lake Martin’s water quality as well as quantity such as when Martin Dam was relicensed.
Congratulations to all of the people honored at the meeting! One of the winners of the Business of the Year award was Skip and Rhonda, owners of The Destination Resort. Palmer and I had a great time staying at the Destination on Sandy Creek and they are certainly deserving of the award.
Thank you to my fellow agent, G.W. Warren and to the Chamber for asking me to speak! G.W. was also the emcee and did a great job!
