In this blog, I will tell you about one of my favorite local spots on Lake Martin Alabama known as Peanut Point.
Located near neighborhoods such as Paces Point, Shady Bay and BoonDocks Marina by water, it is a great place to boat up to and enjoy all of the great peanuts and merch they have. Peanut Point is a true gem on the lake and a summer staple for both locals and visitors.
What You Will Find at Peanut Point
You’ll find pop-up tents, an oversized “big blue chair,” and of course, the best boiled peanuts on the lake. This is all thanks to a family-run operation that’s been going strong since the late 1980s. They now sell ice cream and T-shirts in addition to the peanuts.
The History of Peanut Point
The story behind it is pretty cool. The original founder, Louis, started cooking peanuts while waiting for fish to bite, turning a simple pastime into a beloved tradition. Now, his descendants Tim and Brenda Dunham carry on the legacy. They serve up signature boiled peanuts that keep people coming back year after year.
Every summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Peanut Point becomes the go-to weekend destination for boaters and peanut lovers. So, it’s definitely a great place to visit while on Lake Martin.
