Do you cold plunge at Lake Martin? For me, cold plunging is a great de-stressor. I have talked to a lot of people that kind of want to get into it, but it could be kind of expensive.
What I tell everybody if you want to get started is don’t start with the outside tub and all that business. Just get a chiller. It’s about the size of a wind unit air conditioner, and you can plug it up right beside the bathtub.
You would need to get a qualified registered electrician to make you an outlet right beside the tub, but all you need is the chiller. What that does is it chills the water down and then recirculates it back into your tub. That way you hadn’t paid for an exterior tub and all the expense that goes with that. For an example of a chiller, you can get an Active Aqua one. They actually sell them at Amazon and also Walmart.
When you install it, it will have two lines that you see. One will be pulling water out of the bathtub will be pushing it through the chiller, and the other line will be pushing the cold water back into the tub.
You do need to get a separate water pump. You can either put it inside the tub to push the water to the chiller, or you can install it in line with the chiller if you don’t want to put the pump inside the tub. And then, if you’re getting in the tub, obviously, you can just unplug the pump. It also has a little thermostat in there just like a wind unit air conditioner does, and you set that temperature to where you want.
If you’re looking for more resources for cold plunge such as DIY cold plunge stuff, then you should look at David Maus Jr.’s YouTube channel. He has a page that offers really good information on how to do it yourself or how to buy kits. He reviews them also, so it’s a great channel to check out.
The reason I like the cold plunge is I feel like it’s a huge de-stressor. Anytime that you get into whatever 42° water, you don’t really have time to concentrate on much else other than sort of lowering your blood pressure. I like it for the mental aspects of it. I do think there are tons of physical benefits also that you can research, but I do it for mental health.
If you have a cold plunge setup at Lake Martin, please let me know. DM me on my Facebook or Instagram, because I’d like to learn about your setup. Another thing
that my wife wants to get is a sauna. She’s all about the sauna. So, if you have a sauna setup, then I’d like to see that too. So, please let me know because I’d like to come and check it out. Even though these thermal regulations are trendy nowadays, I do think it’s really helpful. Just give me a shout if that’s good for you.
