North Lake Neighborhood Information
The North Lake neighborhood is not really a neighborhood but a large geographic area. Some people debate on what I classify for North Lake but for purposes of this neighborhood page I've included the areas north of Blue Creek.
History of North Lake Neighborhood on Lake Martin
The North Lake neighborhood is not really a neighborhood but a large geographic area. Some people might debate on what I classify for North Lake but for purposes of this neighborhood page I've included the areas north of Blue Creek.
By boat the North Lake area is north towards the river bridge, past Pleasure Point and Pace's Peninsula. If you're looking at street addresses, homes on the North Lake area of Lake Martin might have its city listed as Alexander City, Jacksons Gap, or Dadeville.
I have many friends that have homes in North Lake and they playfully refer to it as North of Chimney Rock (NOCR). They even have a hashtag for it - #NOCR - (don't believe me? check it out!).
With this being such a huge area there are widely varied home styles. If you are looking for the quintessential lake cabin 'at the end of the country road' - this area is perfect. Many homes around Hwy. 280 were built in the old fishing camp style in the 1960s. Homes have been remodeled many times over the decades but there are also new homes in formal neighborhoods like in River Oaks.
Many lake lovers prefer the North Lake area because there is less boat traffic and because it is close to Alexander City and shopping and such there. Another plus to this area is the close proximity to Auburn, Georgia and Atlanta.
