CRATA Tower Grand Opening Event!

The long awaited tower on Overlook Road is finally complete. Join CRATA at the grand opening event for the tower on November 7th at 10 AM! This is where locals, outdoor enthusiasts, and visitors from across the region will gather together at 1791 Overlook Drive for the dedication ceremony of this impressive new landmark overlooking beautiful Lake Martin.

A Tower Built by the Community

This new CRATA tower isn’t just another scenic stop — it’s a project born out of community pride. Built completely through the hard work and dedication of volunteers, donors, and supporters across Elmore and Tallapoosa counties, the tower stands as a symbol of what makes the Lake Martin area so special.

The Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Association has long been known for maintaining over 26 miles of hiking trails around Lake Martin. They give locals as well as visitors a chance to explore the natural beauty that surrounds Lake Martin. They do a great job, and they’re a key part of the Lake Martin area.

I have been waiting for this project to be complete for years. Even I was surprised at how incredible the views were! From the tower, you can see Chimney and Acapulco Rocks, Kowaliga Bridge, and even StillWaters.

What to Expect at the Event

The grand opening will begin at 10:00 AM with remarks from CRATA leadership and community figures who helped make this vision a reality. Make sure to view the tower and enjoy the surrounding overlook area after the dedication.

While final safety inspections are still underway, full access to climb the tower may come a little later. Attendees can also expect a plaque dedication to honor donors who contributed $250 or more to the project.
