Fall Activities at Lake Martin

The summer season on Lake Martin may be coming to a close soon, but that doesn’t mean the fun has ended! Fall comes with some of the best activities to do at Lake Martin. In this blog, I will tell you about some fun activities and also some great restaurants you should try during this season on the lake. 

Hiking During the Fall

One thing to do is to go hiking. There are some great trails around Lake Martin. So, if you are an outdoorsy person, then you should definitely check out these trails!

The Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail includes great views from high points, and woodsy paths that take you right down to the water. There’s also a new tower there that you can climb and lookout at amazing views of Chimney and Acapulco Rocks as well as the Kowaliga Bay area towards the west.

If you want more info on hiking the Cherokee Ridge system of trails at Lake Martin, go to CRATA.org.  This is the Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Association’s website, and they’re the folks who maintain these trails.

Another trail to check out is the Smith Mountain Alpine Trail. This trail also has a tower where you can see some of the best views of the lake.

Fall Events

There are some fun events coming up that make fall one of the best times to visit Lake Martin. If you are a fan of festivals, then we have plenty that are fun for the whole family.

On October 4th, the Dadeville Fall Festival will take place on the square downtown. From 9 AM until 3 PM, you will be able to shop local vendors for items such as arts and crafts while also enjoying some great food from the vendor trucks. It’s a fun annual event that definitely helps welcome the new season!

Also, on October 11th, make plans to visit the Sportplex in Alexander City, AL, for Oktoberfest!This is a fun festival where you can enjoy great food vendors as well as local art vendors and a great car show.

Last but not least on the list is the Fall Family Festival at Russell Crossroads on October 24th. With a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, funnel cakes and more, nothing says “fall” like a fun family festival.

Restaurants Open During Fall

Many restaurants on the water may be closing down for the season, but there are still some great places to try located near Lake Martin!

One of these is Niffer’s Place. This restaurant is not on the water but is still able to capture the lake vibe. They have a great menu filled with burgers, wings, sandwiches, and more! Definitely, check them out if you are visiting Lake Martin.

Lake Martin Pizza has some of the best pizza around the lake, so make sure to visit either their Alex City or Dadeville location. Plus, you might catch some great live music on the weekends.

Also, Burrito’s Corner Mexican Grill is my favorite Mexican restaurant. They have great street tacos that you have to try! So, definitely make the trip to try them out.
